Blue Mountain Belle is an indie folk band from Detroit, Michigan produced by John Katona of Dog & Panther. The band was formed by guitarist Nick Bourgeau and singer/songwriter Stephanie Hamood upon meeting during their coincidental return to Michigan - on boxcars, naturally - after pursuing separate projects in other states. With Hamood's affinity for traditional honky tonk, 60's folk, and all-things-Leonard Cohen, combined with Bourgeau's extensive background in jazz and experimental noise music, the band boasts a delightful marriage of modern folk and 60's soul, heavily influenced by the analog sounds of yesteryear. The band began playing all over the metro Detroit area after Hamood finished touring with the legendary Anita Baker, playing dates as Baker's opening act. When they aren't trying to outdraw Clint Eastwood in front of the TV, and with their days of barroom brawls and Boston subway busking behind them, they released their debut EP at the beginning of April and are taking it on the road this summer....coming soon to a city near you.
